Verbal dynamics post.

Occasionally, I see people (almost invariably women*) object to the term "rape" being used to mean "defeat." As in, "man, he raped you in that game of Tomb Raider!" or similar use in WoW settings. I agree with these objections, but hadn't, until today, noticed the larger context. Or part of it.

*I'll get back to that point. In another post, I think; why this is more relevant to/noticed by women than men is a different topic.

Run, do not walk, over to bk7brokemybrain's LJ to read the fic she wrote for me in the hpequality fundraiser to fight Proposition 8 in CA. The Blessing is 2,756 words of brilliance. This is Snarry at its finest. It features a highly original Wizarding tradition, a re-visit to #4 Privet Drive, an almost Slytherin Harry, totally believable Snape, and possibly the most spot-on characterization of Petunia you will find anywhere. And all in a nice, tidy, compact fic that will leave you wanting more.

Do yourself a favor and don't read the warning. You'll enjoy it more if you don't know. And, yes, that advice came from me - the self-proclaimed queen of the spoiler warning. Shoo! Go read. And let her know what you think when you're through.
